| Food |
 |
This isn't much,
but it will help to keep a Ranger alive. |
Sea
Cucumber* |
 |
Found
growing along the rock clusters found scattered over the sandy bottom of
the Blue Sea, this green squat vegetable is named after its dry land cousin. |
Toadwart
Mushroom** |
 |
This small, green-brown
mushroom is covered by little wart-like growths. On quick inspection it
resembles a small toad, hence the mushroom's name. It is also interesting
in that there is something about the mushroom which repels insects. Things
wiped with it are just ignored by stinging swarms and pesky insects. |
| Mai |
 |
Mai is very rare.
You are unsure of what secrets it holds but you have heard that the Mai'Sunni
tribe in eastern Threforfar holds this plant sacred. You can consume it
if you like. |
| Salt** |
 |
Not your normal table
salt, this salt crystal can be used by those Rangers with survival training
to 'salt' or 'cure' hides and carcasses in order to help preserve them
better with time. |
| Moss |
 |
A soft lump of green
moss. You recognize that it has healing properties when chewed, and can
also be used to hone a weapon's edge. |
| Whetstone** |
 |
This particular stone
is very useful to Rangers. Those who have learned how, can use this whetstone
to 'whet' damaged weapons to take the nicks out and restore them to a better
condition. |
| Coral* |
 |
This chunk of hard
coral feels tough, and grainy in your hands. You understand that it is
used by the Merfolk from the Blue Sea to hone the edges of their weapons. |
| Quinta |
 |
This small leafy
herb is rumored to bring one awareness and relieve mental fatigue if chewed.
The thick green leaves seem to have a sheen all their own. |
| Tuber* |
 |
Growing in patches
among the coral reefs of the Blue Sea, this dark tuber is about the size
of your finger and made of some very strong fibers. Because it is full
of such rich juice, many underwater folk have taken to chewing the Kransco
tuber, since it is too tough to completely eat. |
| Tea |
 |
Collected and stored
in individual packets, it takes only a few of the rich, green tea leaves
to brew some tea over a fire. Hot, steaming tea is known to be very refreshing
to the body and helps to sooth the mind. It is rumored that the Wise (Mad)
woman of the Foxhole Forest, Trisa, can see the future in the dregs at
the bottom of an empty cup of tea. |
| Kelp* |
 |
Kelp is commonly
gathered in small clumps. The green, underwater plant is rather soggy,
and mushes easily. The Merfolk of the Blue Sea use it to make medicinal
paste, but it is otherwise not wise to eat. |
| Pepper** |
 |
A Ranger forages
a small group of pepper seeds at a time that just fit in the palm of one's
hand. Pepper has an earthy, spicy scent and when crushed it adds to the
flavor of freshly cooked meat. Be careful, as it can be nasty if you get
any thrown in your eyes. |
| Moonflower |
 |
This small flower
has 9 petals, each looks like a tiny cresent moon. Knowledgable Rangers
know that this rare flower can be eaten, or delicately applied to fresh
wounds. |
| Hemlock |
 |
This is a rather
small sprig of that deadly plant, hemlock. It looks harmless enough, and
could be eaten if you are feeling rather suicidal. A skilled ranger can
brew it, producing a steaming, pale liquid. A touch of mint is often added
to help it go down easier. |
| Pearl Berry* |
 |
Found growing amongst
the seaweed forest on the edge of the Great Rift of the Blue Sea, this
small white berry greatly resembles that for which it has been named. Thriving
on the volcanic gases, these berries are said to effect the mind when eaten,
and the juices bestow the very strength of the core of the earth to things
that are smeared with it. |
| Heeselk |
 |
This is a root of the herb,
Heeselk. It is very rare and found only in remote parts of the Northern
Woods of Threforfar. |
