"When
discussing Lady Rilan, to say it is difficult to decipher fact from myth
is an understatement. We know for a fact that there are recorded records
in the Imperial Library of her active duty with the Imperial Knights when
they were formed nearly 200 years ago. She was their first leader. It has
been confirmed by the Court of Elvinhome that she is a blood relative of
the Duchess Eldrica, though they will not state to what degree. This leaves
much to speculation. As with much of the history of the 'High Elvin Peoples',
the details of Rilan's life remain shrouded in enigmatic silence. While
the legends vary, this paper will attempt to prove or disprove, with only
circumstantial evidence, which of the stories are true and to what degree.
However, I regretfully must confess that most of my research boils down
to conjecture. Was she truly the Emperor's lover? How much of a role did
she play in placing Him on the throne? What is her relation to the Duchess
Eldrica? Are the legends of her slaying a Dragon in the Westworld Mountains
fact or fiction? What was her role in forming the Imperial Knights? Was
she truly the catalyst in creating Fort Fay? I will attempt to answer all
of these questions."
